The 8th ATAIC Technical Conference of the Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries (ATAIC): Riyadh – Saudi Arabia, 2011
The 8th Technical Conference of the Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries (ATAIC) was held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 2 to 4 October 2011 (Dhu al-Qi’dah 1432 AH), organized by the Saudi Department of Zakat and Income Tax at that time.
- Main themes: The conference focused on discussing the “Model Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement for Islamic Countries” and the role of such agreements in enhancing trade exchange and investment among member states.
- Participation: 25 Arab and Islamic countries participated in the conference, in addition to representatives from 5 regional and international organizations.
- Objective: To develop the work of tax administrations, strengthen joint coordination, and facilitate the movement of capital, goods, and individuals between Islamic countries.
- Opening: The conference was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf, the Saudi Minister of Finance at the time, who emphasized the role of tax administrations in supporting the national economy.
